Building Communities

Everyone is looking for their village, their tribe, their Community CIRCLE that brings meaning to the place where they live, the way that they work, and who they are as individuals. When it comes to living and working in a community, we want you to feel a true feeling of belonging.

A true connector, Susan Morris founded SueMo Consulting to provide resources and make these valuable connections between individuals, businesses, entrepreneurs, intraprenurs, startups, influencers, and volunteers.

Meaning behind the Logo:

When I created the "SueMo" logo, I wanted to make sure that it represented me, my mission and my brand. It has a lot of different meanings.

An Abstract of a Sumo Wrestler

There are two ways to win a Sumo match: push your opponent out of the circle or have them touch the ground with any body part other than the soles of the feet: Circles and Balance.

Circles: In any community (personal or business) it is important to find your circle, a place of comfort and familiarity; but there is a whole world beyond your circle. We will help you build new relationships, connections, and experiences by giving you "a little push."

Balance: A healthy community needs balance: Equality and Equity. If we don't have both, we don't have balance. We take the time to listen and learn the backgrounds and experiences of each individual and business so we can meet them where they are and build where they want to be. We understand that some people need to get on their feet before they can stay on their feet. Building individual relationships is the first step toward balance.

Balancing Rocks or Stacked Rocks

For people on a journey, stacked rocks are used to guide them by showing direction along the way. When you see the stacked rocks, you know you are on the correct path. SueMo Consulting (SMC) serves as a guide for the path that you have chosen.

There are many aspects to your personal life or business and balance is key. SMC serves as a simple reminder to keep balance in priorities: Family/Friends, Community/Service, Work, Rest

Buddhist Monks use Stacking Stones as a gesture of asking or wishing for good fortune to be bestowed on the stacker and his/her family. Each stone within the stack represents a particular wish and possibly, family member. (Family/Friends)

The act of balancing stones carries with it a practice of patience and the physical effort of creating balance.  Each rock can signify an intention of grace for thankfulness, or offered up for another in need (Community/Service). Connecting nature in this externalized expression is uplifting and a very powerful tool for expanding the spirit and guiding what you do. (Work)  A stack of rocks is called a cairn. Cairns have apparently been used to mark trails for thousands of years and are still in use today. Some religious traditions use them as parts of rituals or to mark spots for a person to stop and meditate (Rest).

Finding Your Element

The four blues in the logo represent Earth, Air, Water and Fire (the hottest part of a flame burns blue!)

The philosophy behind the four elements originates from the ancient Greeks who believed all matter consisted of a combination of these fundamental constituents.

At SMC, we aim to be the best combination of the elements, the different characteristics that correspond with our nature.

Earth: Stable and consistent, Hard-working, Loyal, Nurturing, Logical, Empathetic

Air: Thoughtful, Witty, Kind, Creative, Independent, Flexible

Fire: Passionate, Bright, Charismatic, Focused, Decisive, Daring

Water: Understanding, Trusting, Devoted, Forgiving, Flexible

Setting the stage to enable and support growth: The circles get larger, and then they separate.

  • The “bun” is the individual, who starts with knowledge and ideas.

  • The “head” represents growing your circle through making more connections.

  • The “body or belly” represents expanding your circle further through collaborations.

  • The “feet” represents sharing your knowledge, ideas, connections, and collaborations with others by serving others.

The Power of Five: The Five Circles

Our goal is to positively affect five other people or organizations with each project. This can be done in a variety of ways: make connections, identify collaborations, mentor, provide resources, identify/reward talents, volunteer time, and find creative ways to pay-it-forward.
